Seaside home, St Andrews.
Seaside aesthetic.
My client’s brief was to modernise and create a fresh look to what was previously a holiday home - a place which had been well loved but the decor was slightly dated and the use had changed.
In our initial chat we felt that it would be rude to ignore the St Andrews location so a subtle nod to the seaside was agreed. The house was quite dark and the existing carpeting intensified this so transforming the flooring was one of the main priorities.
Mood boards detailed a soft palette which flowed seamlessly throughout the rooms, specifying Farrow and Ball colours, wallpapers from Claret and Key, natural berber carpets for the bedrooms and a washed oak LVT for the hallways. A new Italian dining table and chairs were chosen as the focal point of the open-plan living area. New furniture was also sourced for the rest of the house with a contemporary mix of oak, metal, and glass complemented by textural elements such as the bespoke upholstered headboards.
Carefully considered lighting – including rattan shades and glass pumpkin globes in the hallway – worked well with the relaxed seaside theme.
A mix of the client’s existing possessions and new accessories and pictures finished off the scheme to create a warm and welcoming home.
